God Is Your Source
If you're anything like me, you're feeling the squeeze from skyrocketing gas and food prices and the overall effects of a sagging economy.
Just a year ago, I would go to the mall whenever I felt like it and buy a few pantsuits or dresses to wear to work and church. I ate out frequently. And on Saturdays, I would coax myself out of bed as early as 7:30 a.m. so I could be first in the chair at the hair salon. Today I shop less, dry clean the clothes I already have, cook my meals and spend a little less time at the salon.
As a single mother of a college student, it's easy to be concerned about the future. But God reminded me in prayer one day last week that He is my source. It is He who provides for me no matter what happens in the world around me.
Yes, I must be savvy with my money and spend it wisely, but the Bible is loaded with promises to believers whose confidence is in God.
Did He not provide manna from heaven for His children in the wilderness? Of course. Is He not the God who the psalmist says owns the cattle on a thousand hills? Absolutely. (See Ps. 50:10.) Did He not promise that a faithful person will have many blessings? Yes. (See Prov. 28:20.)
Christians aren't super saints and we sometimes lose sight of who holds the future. We can earn a good education, develop our skills and use our abilities to earn a living. But at the end of the day, it is the Father who will breathe on our efforts and make them prosper. The Bible says God gives us the power to get wealth.
Reassess your spending habits, tear up those credit cards, develop a budget and live by it, and continue giving to the work of the Lord. But don't panic, God is your source in this topsy-turvy economy.

Amen Sister!
How refreshing to hear honesty about your struggles amidst the TRUTH of the WORD. I appreciate the fact that you pointed out we have a responsibility too: "Reassess your spending habits, tear up those credit cards, develop a budget and live by it, and continue giving to the work of the Lord. But don't panic..."
Good stuff. Thanks for the fresh cold drink of water!

Ms. Lowe, you are on point with this subject. It is tough to keep "blinders" on admist the economic climate of our country. But, thanks be unto God who always causes to to triumph. We are not held captive within the parameters of the world's system. God intended for every believer to believe, expect, and trust that He promised us. Feast on this, "If obey the Word of God, the Lord has obligated Himself to honor you favorbly."
Wow! Your words are so TRUE...God IS our Source! My husband has been without a full-time job since January.
The Lord has provided for us in ways I could have never imagined!
I am grateful...God is so good!
Thank you for your uplifting words!

Indeed its goog stuff. i love the message, its a balanced diet- God is our source/provider and He is faithful. At the same time He wants us to be wise in our spending.
Thanks and God bless you
Thank you for such a wonderful message could not have came on a better day. My son has been dead for one year and today is his birthday.
I thank God for his forty-forty year and knowing he is my True Source.
Praise God! He is indeed our provider. When the economy was fit we felt blessed because we looked at Uncle Sam the father symbol of power. Our eyes and heart must always stay fixed on Jesus Christ, the true heart of Fatherhood. God is the source of all perfect provisions, after all He created all living things. Our life will remain in His hands no matter what the darkness of a upside down economy predicts. Who the Son of God has set free is free indeed! I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their seeds begging for bread. We must learn to be content with shelter, food and clothing, anything else that God gives us is His abundant blessings to us. Staying in prayer, forgiving and loving God with everything we are will keep us sparkling as God's precious treasures in a world that has lost its luster.
This is all true. God Is our Source. I know for a fact, no matter what the "world" is going through we as Children of God do not have to get caught up in the economy. God worked a miracle for me this year that I never really saw coming. He blessed me to work only 10 minutes from home and be closer to my family. That saves me a 1/2 of tank of gas each week. I cook my own meals and have cut back on going to the beauty shop as much so that I may do for others and give to those who need so much. Because God has blessed me overly and abundantly, I can't help but thank him for being my source; mentally, physcially, financially and most of all spiritually.
Thanks for the encouraging words. It is so hard for me during this time because like you, I am use to shopping, going to the hair salon and nail salon. But I am learning how to trust in God like never before; God is teaching me through listening to Holy Ghost. I thought I trusted God before but I did not I trusted in my bank account. Now that my account has dwindled down to nothing, I can truly say I trust God. I have no other source but Him and He has never fail me so I have full confidence in Him now. God bless you
