God is a Healer
The other day, I was sitting in the surgical waiting room of a local hospital praying for my daughter. She was undergoing an operation to have her spleen removed and honestly, I was afraid.
One moment I was confident the surgery would go well, and the next moment I was struggling with fear and the dreaded what ifs.
I was teetering back and forth in my mind, when something caught my attention. Every time a doctor would come to the waiting room, he would pull the patient's family member, spouse or adult child to the side to tell him something only the two of them could hear.
The response was always the same.
The person would either clutch his chest and nearly shake the doctor's hand off as a sign of gratitude, erupt in joyful laughter, whip out a cell phone and text the news to other loved ones or simply say thank you.
The same scene played out over and over again for hours and then it hit me: God is a healer.
The Bible says in Isaiah 53:5: "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed" (NKJV).
Not everyone who checks into a hospital will leave there healed. In fact, there are no guarantees what will happen. Some people are given a clean bill of health and suddenly die. And others are told they only have eight months to live, and live to be 80. But after watching God work in the hospital that day, my confidence in Him is refreshed.
Someone reading this blog is battling an illness and you feel hopeless. Take heart. God will not leave you in your time of need. That day in the hospital, I too was told my daughter's surgery went well, and she would be fine. I clutched my chest, tried to shake the doctor's hand off, and whipped out my cell phone to tell my family. God is sovereign and He can heal us.
So be encouraged. Continue to seek Him for your healing and trust Him in the meantime.

Something God revealed to my heart is the part that says:
"by His stripes we are healed". Notice the Word says "are healed" - it doesn't say maybe. That speaks volumes to me! I loved your article! It inspired what I already knew. We need more of that! Thanks. God heals. :)
I have heard and received lots of encouraging words, scriptures and prayers but to read "God is a Healer" which I already believed, will stay with me (us) during our continued need of encouragement. Back in 2001 my husband had open heart surgery and recently doctors have diagnosed Cardiomyopathy, so there are expected surgeries to come. We will have to go "through" but we will do so praising God because we too believe "God is a healer". Please pray fervently with us. Thank you for allowing me to share my feelings.

God is Faithful!
I thank God for the healing of your daughter. HE IS HEALING.
I am a witness that GOD is a HEALER. We must also realize that for some our healing takes place here in this body form but for some it will happen when they leave this form and move into the next realm of life with Christ.
So whether the healing is done here or after we leave here the bottom line is we ARE HEALED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS! The work is already done on the Cross. He's already overcome sin, sickness and death and for some who are Believers they may not see the healing in this earthly vessel but guarantee as Believers in Christ they will see that manifested healing when they leave here!
A woman emailed me this morning thanking me for the prayers that were ongoing for her father's healing from cancer. He passed into the arms of God on Friday and I received a message saying, "my Dad is now healed! He's free from cancer and he's with Jesus!"
PRAISE THE LORD! We all want to see the manifestation of healing while on earth but if we don't we'll surely be healed the moment we slip into the arms of Christ for eternity. PRAISE THE LORD!

My husband and I always thought we were Christians. We did not go to Church often, and as the children got older, we rarely went at all - work and owning our own business always took precedent over Church.
Years came and went. Struggles continued and we lived day to day, seldom thinking of God Our Father or His son, Jesus.
Then, by chance, my husband was asked to join a group of Christians going to Nigeria where his expertise in agriculture could be utilized. He only knew one other person of the 20 people who were going from a little church in Mason, Ohio.
The trip changed his life and mine as well. He witnessed the power of prayer first hand in the desolate and dirty town of Jos, Nigeria.
He came home a changed man. We began attending that small little non-denominational church in March of 2006. We have rarely missed a Sunday since and have become involved in a small group on Sunday evenings.
I truly believe that God was preparing the way for the rocky path we were to soon travel.
Our youngest granddaughter was diagnosed with AML, a very aggressive and rare type of leukemia in the summer of 1997. We asked our church family to pray for her, and they in turn, asked others and soon we had people praying for her all over the world.
Currently, she is in remission and doing well. She just celebrated her 2nd birthday in May.
Had my husband not experienced Christ in Nigeria, we would not have believed that she could be healed by the Father's loving hands. Whenever we left the hospital, my husband lay his hands upon her and asked God to keep her safe for another day.
Yes, He is the Almighty Healer.
GOD is "THE GREAT PHYSICIAN" HE IS THE HEALER.
So many people trust in and believe in medical doctors who are trained and skilled BUT GOD is all knowing. He blessed those doctors to accomplish their studies. Whatever one hears from the medical profession is an educated opinion.
I BELIEVE GOD. What he says in his WORD.
Encouraging all to READ THE BIBLE. GET TO KNOW HIM AND ALL HIS PROMISES ARE TRUE.

Thank God your daughter is well.God is a healer not just because He heals us, but because He says so: 'I am the Lord who heals you'. God is a covenant God. His 'work' is to heal the sick and our duty is to pass the test of faith in Him. Our attitude during trials, sicknesses, is very important. We are tested by God in our mind and spirit (Ex 15:25-26). I am a medical doctor and missionary pastor in Africa. God always passes the test of faithfulness, He always heals our body and soul. I have seen people healed by God who themselves had to repent of doubt later. May God open our eyes to see Him as He is forever, a good God, faithful and true to all His promisses. My son was in an accident recently where he broke his shoulder quite badly. We were told he would have to have an operation to plate it ...the prayers went up and requests went out. No operation was needed "Praise God" and the shoulder is completly healed "Praise God" did I doubt for one moment while we were in that hospital room that God would heal my son NO ...God heals , Yesterday, Today Tomorrow and ever more we simply need to Trust and I too love that verse from Isaiah "by his stripes you are healed" but also I am the Lord your God and I will heal You ....

I want to thank God for the sharing of this verse-Isaiah 53v5. There is difference between confession and believing,but as christians, as we confess, we need to believe it as it is written, and it will manifest physically in our lives. I am a living testimony of this verse. It is a wonderful verse indeed. Thank Go for our Lord Jesus, who has given us the victory. I know that God led me to your writing to bless and encourage me,
but then I was even more sure when
I read your daughter had her spleen removed, because I had that same
operation in '99 due to low platelets. Thank you for sharing
your feelings and your honest struggle during that difficult day.
I know she will be just fine.
Please pray that the Lord will give my three year old daughter great medical results. I have been fasting now for a week and going for another week until I receive the medical results back for my daughter. Please pray that GOD heals her and places all her blood levels at normal rate and that we receive a medical result that glorifies GOD in all his ways.
I am grateful to God for all of you, my sisters & brothers in Christ. Lisa I had been struggling but accepted God's will to take my mom home to be with Him. I looked at healing as only here in this earthly vessel knowing we have our spiritual body when Christ returns but I never viewed healing the way you & the other sister said it, "for some who are Believers they may not see the healing in this earthly vessel but guarantee as Believers in Christ they will see that manifested healing when they leave here!"
I thank God for healing & for fresh revelation of His word.

I love you Wendy and I thank God for the revelation and comfort He gave to you through the words I shared. It touched my life when I received that revelation in 1990 when my precious Grandmother went home with the Lord from annurism in her brain and I just wasn't ready for her to leave, not yet...not when suddenly my life was becoming all she had prayed but the PEACE OF GOD fell upon me as I sought the Lord. I needed to know why the healing I prayed for had not taken place and Grandma was gone but the Holy Spirit ministered to my heart the revelation that whether here or after; in CHRIST Grandma was healed! GLORY TO GOD!

GOD HAD JUST USED ME TO SPEAK LIFE IN MY CO-WORKERS LIFE BECAUSE HER AND HER FIANCE WAS GIVEN THE SAME SENTENCE BUT GOD TOLD ME TO PRAY FOR HER AND I DID. GOD HEALED THEM BOTH. AS I STOOD ON GOD WORD FOR THEM NOT KNOWING THAT I TOO WOULD BE TRIED BUT GOD PREPARED ME FOR THE FIRE. AS MY DOCTOR WALKED IN MY ROOM WITH HIS HEAD HUNG DOWN WITH WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS BAD NEWS AND THE END OF MY LIFE. I SAW JESUS HANGING ON THE CROSS AND ME COVERED BY HIS BLOOD. I was diagnosed with HIV yesterday. I have never cried and prayed so hard in my life. I am awaiting to see the doctor to see if I need to go on medication. I am believing God for complete healing. If Jesus was born miraculously, raised miraculously, healed the sick miraculously then He can heal me miraculously!!!
I have repented of my wicked ways and now I am making a mandate to live for God and do things His way. I just need someone or people to agree with me! Thanks

The Bible says: [1 John 1:8-10 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.]
You have confessed your sins as you indicated and our LORD is faithful to cleanse us of ALL not some but all UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.
Be strong in the LORD Stephen. His healing is available to all who come to Him by FAITH through JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.
I pray for strength, wisdom, guidance, comfort and deliverance for you in the Name of Jesus.
Let me also share Stephen that you don't have to wait on someone specific to get a Word to God for you. As children of God we have been given the passage through Jesus Christ to enter into the presence of GOD in prayer and receive whatsoever we ask in Jesus Name according to the will of God for our lives. His will is His word for us so study the Word of God (Bible) and live it by faith.
