Prayer Changes Things
Ever wonder if the words you pray reach heaven? And if you do manage to get a prayer through, do you think that God won’t answer you? I used to struggle with both questions for years until I started praying for my older brother 17 years ago.
Ron was the kindest, most cordial person you would ever want to meet. He worked in the hospitality industry and loved to put smiles on people’s faces, but he clearly needed a miracle in his own life.
When I realized what was going on and that nothing short of a God intervention would change things, I called my friend and asked if she would be my prayer partner. We agreed to pray for my brother, his wife and their children every day, 365 days a year, until something broke. Little did we know that we would spend the next five years bombarding heaven on their behalf.
I’ll finish the rest of the story in a moment, but what about you?
Do you take the time to pray? I’m not trying to send you on a guilt trip, but we need some Spirit-filled women who will commit to praying 365 days a year.
It’s up to you how long and when you pray, but by all means pray! The benefits of prayer will far outweigh the resistance you’ll experience as you get started.
There was a time in my life when I simply could not pray. I wondered why but deep inside me, I knew the answer. The Bible says that if you regard iniquity in your heart He does not hear you.
When I would kneel to pray, the enemy would constantly accuse me of wrongdoing. But the Holy Spirit would pry me to pray. I repented of my sins and eventually got back on my post.
Scripture tells us that the “effective, fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much” (James 5:16, NKJV). We must keep our hearts clear of any wrongdoing.
With regard to my brother, my prayer partner and I prayed about everything: his marriage, their children, finances, strongholds, but most importantly, we prayed for salvation. And after years of what I call “working in the trenches,” we felt a release to stop praying.
In late 2001, my brother passed away from cancer, but not before God answered our prayer: Lord, save Ron. My brother eventually rededicated his life to Christ, joined a Spirit-filled church and died with the joy that once characterized his life. As for my prayer partner and I, we continue to reap the benefits of effective prayer. Prayer, it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
Things didn’t turn out the way I had hoped for Ron. But God heard and answered me, and today I have this testimony: He is faithful!
I would like to see millions of women come together on spiritledwoman.com to pray. What would happen in the world if we agreed to pray? Nations would turn to God, families would be restored and millions of people would come to Christ. So log on and let your fingers do the talking, and watch God turn things around in our world.

Prayer also changes us. I have prayed for my husband's deliverance from addiction for 6 years. He is still fighting, and thank our Lord, is winning with nothing but our Lord to hang onto. I am still praying AND, as a consequence, have changed - I have come to rely on our Lord for everything, love God so very deeply and with stronger faith and reliance upon Him!
What a powerful testimony! It's exciting to see the power of God in magnificent ways through prayer! God is so faithful to answer us in His time.
Thank you for sharing the touching story about your brother. May the Lord continue to bless you.

I have just started reading Stormie Ormartian's book, The Power of Praying Together. If you want to re-ignite the flame of your prayer life, I highly suggest this book. God is a powerful God and is just waiting for us to ask for His power to be unleashed in our lives! But we have to ask in prayer believing. Things don't just happen. We have to take this business of prayer seriously and then we will see His hand working in our lives in significant ways.
The Lord told me that I was going to have to pray and FAST this year like never before. I have been going through some things, and I can truly say it is the power of PRAYER that is keeping me. Sisters in Christ - pray, pray and pray. Pray where you're up and down, when you're happy and sad, because God always hears our prayers.
I too have experienced problems in the area of prayer. I am not as consistent as I would like to be, but I do know what the Word of God says, ask and it shall be given, seek and ye shall find, and knock and the door will be opened...my brothers and sisters ask, seek and knock with me as we begin to bind up the hand that hinders the prayer of the children of God. We have not because we ask not...please pray with me and for me. Kenya
Prayer changed my life, I have gone thru many test and trials in my lifetime and the wind is blowing right now, I know by the power and authority to speak over our situation and submit our prayers to GOD that we are victorious. The answers to your prayers may not come when you want them to but just remember GOD is always right on time!!!! I thank GOD for the Front Line editor Valerie Lowe, she is a inspiration to all women all over the nation. God Bless you Sister and keep letting GOD use you. Carolyn Lake-Threats
Very powerful testimony. I am encouraged! Ladies may I ask you to join me in lifting up my brother Tony here in London for his salvation and that he can do the right that he knows and not evil. God bless you all. Yvonne , London - united Kingdom
WOW! What a post. I love the Lord. I thank God for Jesus! Don't ya hear me getting my praise on? Prayer is essential. That's how we commune with our Savior. Naturally I am a talker, but at times or periods in my life I would go without saying anything else but "Thank you Lord for waking me up this morning" and "Thank you Lord for a peaceful night's rest." Condemnation. Condemnation. I felt so guilty for not talking to God. As much as I can chat. Oh but His mercy is great. Quiet times are a must. So there is no condemenation. Romans 8.
I pray for all the pray request I see posted. And my pray is "Yes Lord, it is not your desire to see not one perish, so save them all, heal them and allow their hearts to be turned toward you!" Praying in the Holy Ghost, in tongues, REALLY helps too...be encouraged ladies (and men, if you are reading this too)!
Wow this was sure powerful. Just what I needed. I am guilty of not spending enough time in prayer and in devotions. This morning I got up and got busy and totally forgot prayer until I was on the bus to work when I read my Bible. I had only a short prayer and a short Bible study time until I got to my destination. Right now it is so easy to get sidetracked as we have to move by April 15. I am stressed and could use some prayers. Thank you. I keep trying to remember Matthew 11:28-30. Where is this place of prayer that was mentioned at spiritledwoman.com?
I HAVE BEEN IN CHURCH FOR MOST OF MY LIFE. I'M THE THIRD GENERATION OF PREACHERS IN MY FAMILY. I'M GOING THROUGH SOME TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS RIGHT NOW BUT I KNOW THAT I'M GOING TO COME OUT OF THIS VICTORIOUSLY. WE GO THROUGH TRIALS EVERYDAY AND GOD IS THERE TO HELP US. IF WE WOULD JUST GO TO HIM AND GIVE IT ALL TO HIM, HE WILL TAKE CARE OF THE REST. GOD WANTS US TO GO TO HIM WHEN WE NEED SOMETHING FROM HIM. WE MAY GO HROUGH SOMETHING JUST SO WE CAN HAVE A CLOSER WALK WITH GOD. I'VE BEEN LEARNING THIS FOR THE PAST 45 DAYS NOW. I GIVE ALL MY TRIALS TO GOD, IT'S IN HIS WILL NOT MINE.
At times it seems the world we live in is changing so rapidly we cannot keep up with it. Gas prices soaring, food prices increasing daily, our children being taught same sex marriages are alright in public school, and the list goes on.
I have not been close to the Lord since my divorce 10 years ago, I am spirit filled but have not prayed as I know I should or have a church home. Even though I have not done my part, the Lord has continued to walk by side on a daily basis - I feel his presence even when things are at the worst.
This web site I found by accident this morning and have been blessed in the short time I have been online. It has lifted my spirits and I have remembered why I miss my church family of years gone by so much.
Please keep me in your prayers for prayer does change lives and circumstances life nothing else can.
Have a blessed day...
